CTC Media acquired DTV in 2008 from Modern Times Group MTG AB, a publicly traded international entertainment broadcasting group and a shareholder of CTC Media.

DTV Network was launched in 1999 and has been broadcasting under the current brand name since 2002. DTV focuses its detective, action, documentary investigation and comedy programming on the audience aged 25 to 54. The channel’s programming schedule consists of original Russian content, as well as a mix of popular US and European TV shows.

Today DTV is a national free-to-air television network that is distributed through a number of affiliate partner stations and a group of 4 owned and operated stations. DTV’s technical penetration is 68.4% .The average overall age 4 and above audience share in 2009 was 2.0%.
